Four Points (Maximum: Five)

A stirring band with a stirring name taken from a group of comedians that in the fifties went on stage in gorilla-clothes. The group calls their music blues but beware: it is „sponty“ blues with a touch of punk that even Iggy Pop oder David Bowie could have created. Chef Chris won the Detroit Battle Of The Blues Bands in 2001 and the Blues Foundation´s International Blues Challenge in 2002 which documents the excellent skills of the band. It´s not very easy to write a review about „Ruff Cuts“, one has to hear the CD for himself. For example, Johnny Cash would be impressed in which way „Folsom Prison Blues“ can be interpreted , whereas „Crawfish Gumbo“ reminds a little bit of a cooking recipe sung by Jim Morrisson and „Sympathy For The Devil“ would simply knock out The Stones.
